This
Gallery featues photos of my cichlids. These are mostly taken with a Fuji
finepix 1.3 Mega pixel and some with SONY Mavica. The later
pictures were taken with Canon S3 IS (up to 6 M) and this offer better
quality for re-sizing.
Taking
photos of the Zebras is extremely difficult as they are constantly on
the move and the camera do not have the feature to photograph them. The
Central American and South American Cichlids are better photographic
models. Some tips for photo taking of fish :
1. Be patient. You need to spend some time to "ambush"
the fish as they can suddenly dash and dart about when camera flash
are used.
2. Minimize "Noise". Make sure the aquarium glass are
clean and filters are working well so that taken photos are free from
unnecessary dirt and "noise".
3. Experiment with different lighting conditions. Not necessary
bright lighting conditions provide good pictures. Sometimes, photos
taken with the camera flash show the fish in better colours.
4. Use a tripod.
It is the best support. 5. Accessibility of camera. Make sure camera is ready and
accessible. At times, such as spawning activities, courtship etc,
you would not want to be searching for your cameras and later realizing
that the batteries are dead.
