Description:
One
of the common fish from Central America, the fish is peaceful except
during breeding. They get their common name of firemouth from
their red color in their belly and under their mouth. They prefer
rocky habitat with some sandy substrate and can vandalise plants
within the aquarium. The species is widely breed in the
aquarium due to their popularity.
These
fish flex their gills in show of strength when encountering
challenges to their territory or during courtship.
