The tank (2ft by 2 ft by 2 ft)
is filtered
by an external canister filter (EHEIM Professional II 2026).
EHEIM 2026. With a pump output of
950 litres/hr and
a filter volume of about 9 litres, this filter will theoretically
turn over 4-5 times the volume of the tank in an hour. It is
designed for a 350 litre aquarium, has an automatic self primming,
filter baskets for easy filling and a hose shut-off adaptor. Also comes with all accessories and filter media and set up is a breeze. I used
a layer of aquarium wool just before the impeller to trap the fine
material from entering the impeller well. The return pipe to the tank is
at the water surface creating some agitation at the water surface.

A thin layer of brown
colour stone is laid on the bottom of the tank. It basically served to
cover the bare tank bottom and to highlight the silver colour
of the fish. It is quite a bare tank other than the filter pipes and
layer of stones. Used to place a flower pot in the tank but found that
the Argentea seldom uses it.

Lighting
The tank is lighted
by 2 x36W PLC (6500K) with
e-ballast and they lighted up the tank like daylight. I controlled the
lights with a timer.
Maintenance
About
40% of the tank is changed weekly. The filter is also cleaned every
2-3 months.
